Frank E. Cline, age 82, former Desoto County Sheriff, passed away Friday, October 11, 2013 in Port Charlotte, FL. Frank was born in Arcadia, FL November 3, 1930. He retired from law enforcement after serving his community as a police officer, a FHP trooper, and then as deputy sheriff for Desoto County Sheriff's Dept. and then finally becoming the Sheriff of Desoto County from 1966-1981. Frank also served as Chief Deputy for Glades County, and a Deputy in Okeechobee, FL, prior to retirement. While serving as a trooper in Pahokee, Fl he met the love of his life Donna Jo Spooner who was working as a dispatcher for the FHP at the time. Frank was an avid gun collector. He was a member of the Fl Sheriff s Association in which he served as president from 1980 until 1981. Frank loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. Frank graduated from Boynton Beach High School Class of 1948. He was a member of Calvary Baptist, Arcadia, FL. Survivors are his beloved wife, Donna Jo Cline, Arcadia, FL, two sons; Frank E. (Belenda Yarbrough) Cline, Jr., New Brockton, AL, Craig Landon Cline, Seagrove Beach, FL, daughter Jo Ellen (Pete) Canfield, Arcadia, FL, sisters; Melda (Bob) Allen and Anelia Sullivan both of Arcadia, FL. He leaves seven grand children, Zachary (Courtney Wolfe) Cline, Cameron Cline, Caleb Cline, Jordan and Joshua Ostromecki, Heather (Shane) Lowe, Travis Canfield, two great grand daughters; Journey Rae Ostromecki and McKenzy Rae Cline. Frank is preceded in death by his parents, Frank W. and Alma Landon Cline, and a son Stewart W. Cline. Visitation will be conducted from 11:00AM until 1:00PM, Tuesday, October 15, 2013 from the sanctuary of First Baptist Church of Arcadia. Celebration of Frank s life will be at 1:00PM at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Wooten officiating.
