DeSoto- Christine McAnly Cochran, 91, of Arcadia, Florida passed away January 21, 2013. She was born March 2, 1921 in Danville, Kentucky. She was a graduate of DeSoto County High School after her parents moved to Arcadia in the 1930's. After serving in the Navy, she returned to Arcadia with her husband in 1959 from Falls Church Virginia. Christine was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church prior to becoming a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Arcadia. Christine was a WWII Navy Veteran. Prior to her retirement Christine worked for the Arcadia Chamber of Commerce and Central Maloney, in Arcadia. Christine loved animals and playing bridge. She was a sports fanatic, who enjoyed watching football, NASCAR, and her favorite baseball team, the Tampa Rays. Christine was the matriarch of the family. She was the last living relative of her generation. Christine is survived by her son; Mike Cochran and Mary Beth Pridgeon Cochran, of Tallahassee, Florida, daughter; Sandra Cochran and fiancee Steve Stevens, of Tampa, Florida, granddaughters; Holly Cochran, of Jacksonville, Florida, Tara Cochran, of Ashburn, Virginia, cousins; Debi (Jack) Kidd, Roy Ola, Jenny Watson, Connie Watson, Denise Watson, nieces; Kay Dees, Kerry Wegener, nephews; Bill McAnly and Jimmy McAnly. She was preceded in death by her parents; William and Mattie Condor McAnly, husband, Ralph J. Cochran, brothers; Theodore, Hubert, and Slim McAnly, sisters; Dora and Annie McAnly, Flossie Pemberton and Nieces; Ruth Ola and Geneva Watson. A memorial service to celebrate Christine Cochran's life will be held at First Presbyterian Church in Arcadia, Friday, February 1, 2013 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to ASPCA or the Humane Society in Christine's name. Arrangements are by Ponger Kays Grady Funeral Home, Arcadia, Florida.
