Carlie Lee Earnest, age 95, passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2012 in Arcadia, FL. Carlie was born November 30, 1916 in Zolfo Springs, FL. She was a lifelong resident of DeSoto County, FL. Carlie was the wife of a country preacher. She was an excellent homemaker and cook. She enjoyed raising chickens and gathering the fresh eggs. She was an Avon Rep for several years. Carlie was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church, Arcadia, FL. She was a devoted Christian, who s first responsibility was serving her Lord, and then the needs of her husband and family Survivors are her five sons, Walter E. (Thelma) Earnest, Clifton A. Earnest both of Arcadia, FL, Gerald K. (Shirley) Earnest, Graceville, FL, Donald M. (Ethel) Earnest, Zolfo Springs, FL, and Horace C. (Marcella) Earnest, Slocomb, AL, one brother, Calvin Barwick, Avon Park, FL, ten grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, and eight great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Carlie is preceded in death by her beloved husband Reverend E. T. Earnest, and her parents, Nathan and Rowena, son Edwin Earnest, a brother Harold Barwick and sister Inez Wright. Visitation will be from 10:00AM until 11:00AM, Friday, February 24, 2012 at Oak Hill Baptist Church. Funeral Services will be at 11:00AM at Oak Hill Baptist Church, with Rev. Howell Upchurch and Rev. Terry Hudson officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
