Barbara Jean Wooders was born November 24, 1939 to the late Les and Leora Tisdale in the state of Mississippi. She was one of fourteen siblings born to this union. She was reared in Mobile, AL where she spent her younger adult life. She moved to Arcadia, FL in the late 1960s and met and married the late Nathaniel Wooders. During the course of her lifetime, she gave her life to Christ and became a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Arcadia, FL, where she began to learn and develop a spiritual lifestyle through the word of God. She was a dedicated member and served diligently in the Adult choir, worked with the Youth Department and wherever she was needed. One of her specialties in the food department was rutabagas. She departed her earthly life on December 17, 2012 in Arcadia, FL. She leaves to mourn her passing seven sisters: Reverend Martha Holloway (Quincy-deceased) , Mobile, AL, Norma Oliver (Fred), Birmingham, AL.; Addie Jones (Robert-deceased), Key Port, New Jersey; Josephine (Jose), Key Port, New Jersey; Shirley (Robert) Latimer, Mobile, Al; Patty (Randolph) Scott, Atlanta, GA; and Doris Tisdale, Mobile, AL; three adopted children, Bessie Russell, Roosevelt Brady and Cornelia Davis, all of Arcadia, FL; one special grandson, Letroi James, Arcadia, FL and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Barbara s favorite Psalm was the 23RD Psalm and her favorite song was This Morning When I Rose, I Didn t Have No Doubt Memorial services were conducted Friday, Dec. 21, 2012 at the Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home chapel, Arcadia, FL. Inurnment will be at a later date in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Arcadia, FL.
