Jose "Angel" Catano, 65, of Arcadia, FL passed away July 13, 2013 in Port Charlotte, FL. Angel was born May 24, 1948 on Apache Territory in New Mexico. He moved to Arcadia in 2005 from Wauchula. Angel was a self employed electrician by trade and an all around handyman. He loved to work and help those less fortunate. Angel was a creative and artistic man who enjoyed finding odds and ends that you wouldn't think could be fixed and restore them. He was musically talented, playing the drums, guitar and accordion. Being a Native American Indian, he had a special peace and spiritual bond with the outdoors and animals. He loved to fish, but would not eat them. Angel enjoyed taking cruises. He was a member of the Nocatee Church of God. Angel is survived by his wife of 8 years, Linda Autry Catano of Arcadia, FL, son Angel (Mary) Ortega of Webster, FL, daughter Maria (Jim) Hall of Wauchula, FL, sister Michelle (Pete) Obregon of Wauchula, FL grandchildren, Jennifer, Joshua, Miguel, Krissy, Nick, Leah and Gregory and 6 nieces and nephews. Angel was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel Catano and Higinia J. Ortega, and brother Manuel Catano. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the Nocatee Church of God, with Pastor J. Stamey officiating.
