Myra A. Bishop, 80, of Lake Placid and formerly of Arcadia, Florida passed away July 23, 2013. Myra was born November 30, 1932, in Fort Meade, Florida to the late, William M. and Maude Coursey Short. Myra has resided in Lake Placid for the last 31 years. She was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church in Arcadia and attended Placid Lakes Baptist Church. Myra worked as a convenient store clerk, but prided herself as being a homemaker, mother of 3 and wife of a rancher. She loved fishing, the outdoors, campfires, cooking, crocheting and spending quality time with her family. Myra is survived by her son, William "Bill" (Donna) Bishop, of Lake Placid, FL, daughter, Janet (Odeva) Muse, of Lake Placid, FL, brothers, J.D. (Rose) Short, of Sebring, FL, Bill (Mary Lou) Short, of St. George Island, FL and sister, Willie Maude Dansby, of Seffner, FL, grandchildren, April, Amanda, Stephanie and Odeva and 10 great grandchildren. Myra was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Clarence "Bo" Bishop in April of this year, her son, Clarence "Cliff" Bishop in July of 2012, brother, Levert Short, and great grandchild , Derrick McCracken. A visitation will be held in the chapel of Ponger Kays Grady Funeral Home on Friday, July 26, 2013 from 10-11:00 am. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jeff Taylor officiating.
