Dennis Lavoughn Palmer, age 75 passed away Tuesday afternoon, January 9, 2024, in Port Charlotte, Florida. He was born in Arcadia, Florida on July 25, 1948, to George Francis Palmer and Gertrude Mary Westberry.

He graduated from Desoto High School Class of 1966. Dennis retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 26 years of service as a supervisor.  He was also employed by Faith Community Christian Academy and was the Dean of students. He was a member of Faith Community Worship Center. He was in the Navy accomplishing U.S. Navy Aviation Boatswains mate.

Dennis enjoyed fishing, race cars, and spending time with his family. His family will remember him as a generous, tender family man, very supportive, hardworking husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Eva Carlas Palmer, children Chris and Joni Stephens of Arcadia, Florida and Kyle and Andrea Palmer of Arcadia. Sister Sandra (Tharon) Palmer McLellan. Six grandchildren Chelci and Tommy Davis, Caleb and Raquel Stephens, Lillian Palmer and Kyle Palmer. Three great grandchildren Mikah Davis, Makenzi Davis, and Raelynn Stephens.

Dennis is preceded in death by his parents George and Gertrude Palmer.

Visitation will be Monday, January 15, 2024, at Nocatee Church of God from 10:00-11:00am. The Service will be at 11:00am with Pastor Justin Smith officiating.  Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
