David E. Stanford, Jr., age 54, of Arcadia, FL., passed away, July 19, 2008 in Sarasota, FL. from a brief illness. David was born January 25, 1954 in Pittsburgh, PA., and had lived in Arcadia for the past 19 years, moving here from Sarasota, FL. David was a truck driver most of his adult life. He enjoyed stock car racing both as a driver and spectator. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was a very likable man who never met a stranger. David is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Patricia Bullard Stanford, Arcadia, FL., two daughters, Holly (Carl) Layport, and Melissa (Dan) Stanford Moe both of Arcadia, FL. He also leaves two brothers, Harry (Valerie) Stanford and Tony (Melody) Stanford, both of Live Oak, FL. three sisters, Jeri Wyrick, Arcadia, Fl., Ginny (Jerry) Hall, and Penny (Walt) Palmer both of Freeport, TX. He leaves a sister-in-law Diane Stanford, Live Oak, FL. David also leaves his mother Ruth (Clarence) K. Wilson, Arcadia, four grand children, Haleigh Layport, Aaron Layport, and Colby Moe all of Arcadia, FL. Several nieces and nephews. David is preceded in death by his father David E. Stanford and a grandson Carl Wayne Layport Jr.. Memorial services will be held, Saturday, July 26, 2008 at 2:00PM from Ponger-Kays-Grady Chapel, 50 N. Hillsborough Ave., Arcadia, FL. with Rev. Phil Stutzman officiating. In lieu of flowers, family request donations be given to Mrs. Patricia Stanford, 6774 SW. Miami Avenue, Arcadia, FL. to help with funeral expenses.
