David Paul Sams, Sr., age 58, of Arcadia, Fl. passed away, February 12, 2009 in Sarasota, Fl. David was born in Tampa, Fl., moving to Arcadia as an infant. David was a graduate of DeSoto Co. High School class of 1968 . He attended many technical classes after graduation in order to keep on top of his profession. He was a Water and Waste Water treatment Specialist. He began working for the city of Arcadia under his father s supervision and eventually became the overseer of Arcadia s waste water treatment facility. He served the city of Arcadia faithfully for 23 years. David was also in business for himself ;(David s Analysis and Operations Services, Arcadia, Fl.) where he tested and treated water for private individuals and businesses. He was known as the H20 Doctor. David worked as a Deputy Sheriff for a period of time for the DeSoto Co. Sheriff s Dept. He enjoyed traveling, spending time with his grandchildren, and eating at his favorite places. He was a gun collector and a member of the NRA. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Arcadia, Arcadia, Fl. Survivors are; his beloved wife Susan, Arcadia, three sons; David P. Sams, Jr., Sebring, Fl., Jeffrey Carter, Arcadia, and Sam Carter, New Hampshire.; two daughters; Amanda Sams Arcadia and Beverly Rife of Kokomo, IN. and seven grandchildren. David also leaves behind an aunt Marie Boyd, Arkansas, brother in-laws David (Sandy) Niece and Bill (Janice) Niece both of Greenfield, Indiana and several cousins. David is preceded in death by his parents Harry and Lora Mae Denington Sams Visitation will be held from 6:00PM until 8:00PM Monday evening, Feb. 16, 2009 from Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home Chapel, 50 No. Hillsborough Ave. Arcadia, Fl. Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2009 from First Baptist Church, Arcadia, Fl. with Rev. Richard Englert officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
