Costas Chris Cavas age 89, passed away on June 15, 2022. He was born May 10, 1933, in Trikala, Greece and came to the area in 1951. He lived in the area for 71 years. He was self-employed as a painter and ran his own local business.

He was involved in the community as a Little League Coach, he was an avid hunter and a Pigeon Fancier, and he enjoyed hunting at the camp in Little Cypress. He also participated in the 4 ^th of July "shootout" as Cisco Kid in the 1960's.

He participated in the Greek Orthodox Church, Wet Foot Hunting Club, and Peace River Pigeon Fanciers, he also enjoyed racing homing pigeons.

Costas will be remembered as a generous, kind, and loving family man. Everyone in the community respected and loved him – "The Greek".

He is survived by his children, daughter, Bonnie (Gene) Hoffer of Arcadia, Florida, Christina (Greg) Chambers of Iva, South Carolina and son, John Costas Cavas of Anderson, South Carolina. He has one surviving brother, George Cavas of Trikala, Greece. He had 10 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 4 great great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his loving, wife Retta Cavas who passed on December 9, 1977. Also preceding him in death is his brother John Cavas, sisters Zoi and Eutukia Vlachokosta all of Trikala, Greece.

The viewing will be on Monday, June 20 ^th from 10:00AM through 11:00AM, his service is to follow immediately in the chapel of Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Homes, Arcadia with Pastor Ellis Cross officiating. Interment will be in Oakridge Cemetery, Arcadia, Florida.
