Charlie B Rhoades, age 91, passed away Friday February 20, 2009 in Port Charlotte, Fl. He was born December 2, 1917 in Moulton, Al. moving to Florida in 1939. Charlie has lived in Tampa, Bradenton, Parrish then moving to Arcadia in 1964. Charlie s favorite hobby was fishing, both salt and freshwater. He also enjoyed farming; he was described as having a green thumb with his vegetable gardens. Charlie served our country in the U. S. Army and was of the protestant faith, attending Church of Christ Church, Arcadia, Fl. He is survived by two sons, Sherman T. (Carolyn) Rhoades of Arcadia, Fl. and Joshua H. Rhoades of Arcadia, Fl., one daughter Emmy J. Rhoades of Arcadia, Fl., three brothers, Marvin (Edith) Rhoades of Bradenton, Fl., Clarence (Lina) Rhoades of Tampa, Fl. and Robert (Marlene) Rhoades of Ellenton, Fl., one sister Theresa (Edmund) Groover of Palmetto, Fl, four grand daughters, Eva Jane Rice, Sheryl Holt, Patricia Dillard and Ada Rhoades, thirteen great grand children and one great-great grand daughter Sadie. He was preceded in death by his beloved spouses Frances L. Cowart Rhoades and Joyce Lynette Johnson Rhoades and his parents John T. & Lula Mae Rhoades Visitation will be Monday, February 23, 2009 from 5:00 to 7:00PM at the chapel of Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home, 50 N. Hillsborough Ave., Arcadia, Fl. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at 11:00AM at the chapel of Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home. Interment to follow at a later date.
