Charlene Stewart Martin age 70, passed away on May 29, 2022 in Sarasota, Florida. She was born in Atlanta, Georgia. The family later moved to Florida in 1958 where she graduated from Hialeah High School, Hialeah, Florida in 1969. She had been in this community for 52 years, moving here in 1970.
She was a retired Realtor having worked at Martin Realty as well as Tim L. Martin Construction.
Charlene was a great supporter of Veterans and participated in many organizations such as Moose Lodge 1327, AM Vets Auxiliary 60, Women of the Moose, Vietnam Brotherhood, the Arcadia Rodeo, Eagles, Elks, Orioles, Arcadia Squares, the DeSoto County Fair Association, and DeSoto County Sheriff's Auxiliary.
She loved Beaches, and Quilting and Reading. Painting and Canning were also among the things that she loved doing.
She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and Mimi. She was very compassionate to others and had a great love for children.
She is survived by her loving husband, Timothy Lewis Martin and her mother, Jennie M. (Waters) Martin. Daughters, Ashley (Lee) Killmon of Arcadia and Andrea (Kyle) Palmer of Arcadia, Florida. Also her son Michael Martin of Arcadia, Florida. Her two brothers, Richard (Donna) Stewart and Thomas (Cheryl) Stewart and Step siblings, Step Sister Tina (Ken) Myers, Step Brothers William E. (Colleen) Martin and Franklin Martin.
She had five wonderful grandchildren; Waymon Killmon, Myles Killmon, Lillian Palmer, Kyle Palmer and Emma Martin that she loved very much.
She is preceded in death by her father James E. Stewart and her Father-in-law Everett L. Martin.
The service is on June 8, 2022, at 11:00AM with Pastor Ellis Cross officiating in the Chapel of Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Homes, 50 N. Hillsborough Ave., Arcadia, Florida. Interment will be at Joshua Creek Cemetery immediately following the service. There will also be a Celebration of Life at 1:00PM at the AM Vets Post 60 located at 2846 US Highway 17 South, Arcadia, Florida.
