Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Carolyn Shaver who journeyed home to our Heavenly Father on August 17, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on October 11, 1946, in Fort Myers, Florida, she was the cherished daughter of Francis P. Williams and Dorothea M. Williams, both of whom preceded her in death.

Carolyn was a devoted wife to her loving husband of 58 years, George C. Shaver, and a caring mother to her daughter, Tina L. Shaver, who also preceded her in death. She leaves behind five adoring children: daughters Lisa Hess (husband David) and Kimberly Shaver, as well as three sons, George C. Shaver (companion Vanessa Christiani), Joe B. Shaver (wife Vanessa), and Jim B. Shaver (wife Marcie). She was the proud grandmother of 16 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren, all of whom filled her life with joy.

As one of six children, Carolyn was known for her strength and nurturing spirit. After attending business college, she became the CFO of her family's business, Williams Disposal Service, the first and largest door-to-door garbage pickup service in Florida. Her entrepreneurial spirit didn't stop there, as she later opened three daycare facilities in DeSoto County, where she dedicated over two decades of her life to raising and educating thousands of local children. A compassionate soul, she also served as a guardian ad litem and foster parent, and she brought happiness as a kindergarten teacher.

A lifelong member of the Church of God, Mama was an active participant in the Nocatee Church of God community. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she radiated love and kindness to everyone she encountered. She had a passion for old westerns, adored listening to Elvis, and could light up the dance floor in her youth.

Family was everything to Mama. She found immense joy in surrounding herself with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, creating cherished memories that will last a lifetime.

As she closed her eyes here on Earth, she opened them in the warm embrace of her Lord, where she is now at peace.

We invite all family and friends, along with the countless children who grew up in Kiddie Kountry Klub, to join us in celebrating her life. The Visitation will be from 11:00AM - 1:00PM on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at the Nocatee Church of God. Her funeral will follow at 1:00PM with Pastor Lonnie Walker officiating. There will be a graveside service at Palms Memorial Garden in Sarasota on Monday, August 25, 2025, at 10:00AM.

In honor of our beautiful mother let us remember her loving spirit, her dedication to family, and her unwavering faith. She will be deeply missed but forever cherished in our hearts.
