Carol A. Cay Mann, age 68, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2008 in Arcadia, fl. Cay was born in Columbia, SC., Dec. 11, 1939 and had lived in Arcadia since 1969, moving here from Texas. Cay graduated from Hardee High School, class of 1957and attended Florida Southern College, Lakeland, Fl. Cay was an educator, teaching many classes during her 20 years of employment at DeSoto County High School. She was a co-founder and sponsor of the Academic Team at DeSoto Co. High School for those 20 years. She was in charge of ISS (Internal School Suspension).She also served as a tutor and mentor to countless numbers of students. She was a 50 year member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority (Florida Southern), an avid reader and conversationalist. She was of the Presbyterian faith. Survivors are her beloved husband, Col. Douglas J. Mann I, U.S. Army retired, a son, Douglas J. Dutch (Roberta)Mann II, Arcadia, Fl. a daughter, Catherine Cathy Nott, Arcadia, a brother, Alfred Al: ( Peggy)Yarbrough, Sebring, Fl., three grand children, Jennifer (Jeffrey) Scharf, Ashley and Danielle Nott. Memorial services will be held, Saturday, Aug. 23, at 11:00AM at First Presbyterian Church, of Arcadia with Dr. Ted Land and Reverend Jerry Waters officiating. A Celebration of Cay s life by her family and friends will take place at Pfrangle Hall, (First Presbyterian Church s fellowship center) after the memorial services have concluded.
