Carol Ann Baxter Jones, age 79, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on January 30, 2026, in Sarasota, Florida.
She was born on November 2, 1946, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Robert Baxter and Kathryn Wible Baxter. In 1958, Carol's parents moved the family to Florida, where she later graduated from Fort Lauderdale High School in 1964. In 1967, she married Alan Jones, and in 1983, they moved their family to Arcadia, Florida and made it their home.
Carol was employed by the City of Arcadia for many years as an Executive Administrative Assistant and retired in November of 2024. She took great pride in her work and was respected for her dedication and professionalism.
Above all else, Carol loved her family. She took immense pride in each and every one of them and treasured every opportunity to spend time together. She had a deep love for life, enjoyed traveling, and especially cherished her many visits to Disney World.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alan Jones; her parents, Robert Baxter and Kathryn Wible Baxter; and her sister, Diane Baxter Apley.
Carol is survived by her sister, Teri (Tom) McCool of Arcadia, Florida; her children, Timothy Jones, Robin (Christopher) Davidson, and Kimberly (Tom) Jones-Beilstein, all of Arcadia, Florida.
She was a proud grandmother to Brendon (Sarah) Segroves, Amanda (John) Rinaldi, Megan Jones, Nicole Segroves, Timothy Jones Jr., Lilley Jones, Parker Jones, Jordan (Seth) Downing, Matthew Webb, and Adam Webb, and a cherished great-grandmother to John Rinaldi Jr., Griffin Segroves, Julia Rinaldi, Christopher Rinaldi, Alexis Downing, Emma Downing, and Anniston Downing. Many beloved nieces and nephews.
At the request of their mother, her children are having a small gathering of close family and friends to celebrate her life on Saturday, February 7.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tidewell Hospice, Port Charlotte, Florida.
