Betty J. Shirley, age 74, of Nocatee, Fl. passed away April 16, 2009 in Arcadia, Fl. Betty was born February 14, 1935 in Titusville, Fl. and moved to Nocatee thirty-five years ago from Titusville, Fl. She was a homemaker and loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her passion in life was to care for her husband and family. She loved baking and cooking and keeping her family fed. She graduated from the Titusville High School, Titusville, Fl. Class of 1953. She was a member of the Hickory St. Church of Christ, Arcadia, Fl. Survivors are her beloved husband of 43 years, Milton Milt T. Shirley, Nocatee, sons; Thomas G. McCormick, Douglas E. McCormick, Bradley Anderson (Angela) Shirley, all of Arcadia, James David (Anne) McCormick, Punta Gorda, Fl. two daughters; Margaret Ann (Miguel) Gonzalez and Melissa Gayle (James) Mackey both of Arcadia, Fl. three brothers; Dallas Eugene Strickland, Jasper, TN., Emory Lee Crawford, Pasadena, TX, and Buddy Gardner, Vidalia, GA. Fourteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren and a nephew James Richard (Cat) Crawford, Arcadia, Fl. A memorial service in celebration of Betty s life will be held at 2:00PM Wednesday, April 22, 2009 from the Ponger-Kays- Grady Funeral Home Chapel, 50 No. Hillsborough Ave., Arcadia, Fl.
