Betty Joyce Henderson, 88, passed away on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, in Wauchula, Florida. Betty was born in Wauchula on January 30, 1935, to William Henry Spears and Ruby Dean Spears.

She married in 1958 to Mr. Maurice Henderson who was the love of her life.

She was a wonderful mother, homemaker, and faithful member of New Hope Baptist Church where she was the church clerk for over 25 years. She was also a Sunday School teacher and chairman of the bereavement committee. She loved her family and will be missed by all.

Betty loved to cook and enjoyed making meals for her family and friends. She enjoyed fishing, hunting and working along side her husband. Every one who new Betty Joyce new she was a stickler for ''details and organization.''

Betty was the past president of the Hardee County Cattlewoman's Association and was instrumental in starting the Cowbell's Kitchen at the County Fair.

She is survived by her son, Gary Henderson (Leona); son, Scott Henderson (Melanie); 5 grandchildren: Sarah McClenithan of Brandon, Travis McClenithan (Amber) of Wauchula, Jake, Katie, and Kale Henderson; great-grandchild, Sloane McClenithan, all of Wauchula; sister-in-laws: Dorothy Henderson and Loca Spears, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Maurice Henderson of 65 years, parents William H and Ruby Dean Spears, brothers Sam and Ray Spears.

Visitation will be on Saturday, August 12, 2023, from 10:00a.m. to 11:00a.m. at New Hope Baptist Church of Wauchula with the funeral services to follow at 11:00a.m. Rev. Robert Roberts, Rev. Kevin Roberts and Mr. Marcus Shackelford will be officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Mrs. Henderson to New Hope Baptist Church.
