Betty F
Evers
July 4, 1938 – February 13, 2026
Betty Fay Evers,
Fay Evers, 87, of Wauchula passed away on 02/13/2026 at Solaris Healthcare Facility in Plant City after a lengthy battle with heart disease. She was born in Climax, Georgia on July 4th, 1938 and was a life-long resident of Hardee County. She was born as the second baby of a set of twins, her mother had to call the Doctor back to finish the delivery! She was preceded in death by her parents, Fleming and Laura Hines, and her brothers Robert, Carl, Raymond, L.F. and Harry Hines.
After graduation from Hardee High School in 1956, she was referred by the local typing teacher to local Attorney, Lattimer Farr where she began her career as a legal secretary. Her friend Susie Evers insisted Fay go out with her brother, Bud Evers, upon his return to Hardee County after his time in the U.S. Army. After a short courtship, they married in 1958 and remained married for 65 years until his death.
Fay was referred by her employer to the County Judge to fill the position of Judicial Assistant. She served three long tenure County Judges in that capacity and took great pride in her skills and knowledge of the legal process and rules required to successfully assist the judges in the performance of their important duties.
After she retired Fay enjoyed being home more than anything else. She loved to cook for her family, participating in her ladies Sunday School class and spending time with her grandchildren-especially beating them in games. No one who knew Fay well will ever forget her legendary fried turkey and homemade pies.
Fay was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Wauchula and an avid Bible reader.
