Betty H. Dees Lyons, age 81 passed away Friday, March 25, 2011 in Fort Lauderdale, FL. She was born April 29, 1929 in LaBelle, FL. and moved to Arcadia when she was a young girl. Betty then relocated to Fort Lauderdale, FL where she remained for the past 53 years. Betty enjoyed traveling and had the opportunity to visit most of the the United States and many other countries. She loved cooking and baking for her family and friends, playing Bingo and reading a good book. She is survived by two sons, Terry Glenn (Christina) Lyons of Davie, FL and Ronald Lawrence Lyons of Rocky Mount, NC, two brothers Wilbur Dees of Arcadia, FL and C.J. (Sally) Dees of Jamestown, TN, five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by her husband W.L. Buck Lyons, daughter Vicki Denise Bennino and parents Cecil J. and Letha Ballard Dees. A visitation will be held, Tuesday, March 29, 2011 from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at the chapel of Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home, 50 N. Hillsborough Ave., Arcadia. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at 11:00AM at the chapel with Rev. Steve Griffin of The Church of God , Arcadia officiating. Burial will follow at Joshua Creek Cemetery, Arcadia.
