Betty Stephens Christ, age 87, it is with deep sorrow that the family announces the passing of Betty on December 2, 2010. She was born on January 19, 1923 in Arcadia, Fl. Where she resided her entire life, until recent years, when she moved to Orlando with her daughters. Betty was a warm, sweet, loving woman who brightened the lives of all she met. Betty enjoyed cooking for the family, making preserves and canning fresh vegetables. She enjoyed fishing at the family fishing shack in N. Captiva, playing Bingo and bowling with friends. She is survived by and was a wonderful mother to four children; two daughters Marian and Betty Lou Christ both of Orlando and Dennis (Teresa) Christ of Kissimmee, Fl. And Doug Christ of Arcadia, Fl; She was the proud grandmother to Jeremy (Melissa) Christ, Melissa Christ-Udstad, Tiffany (Billy) Kelly, Erin Christ and Adam Christ. She also loved her great grandbabies, Cash, Evan, Eli and Lilly Grace; three sisters Ruth Allen, Wealthia (Raymond) Van Gundy, and Agnes (Roland) Williams, two brothers Walter (Fay) Stephens and Bert (Jackie) Stephens. Betty was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years Vergil Christ, parents Walter and Marion Stephens and brother Jim Stephens. A visitation will be held, Tuesday December 7, 2010 from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at Family Funeral Care, 13001 South John Young Parkway, Orlando, Fl 32837 (407) 812-4200. A visitation will be held Wednesday, December 8, 2010 from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at the chapel of Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home, 50 N. Hillsborough Ave., Arcadia. A visitation will be held Thursday, December 9, 2010 from 10:00AM until 11:00AM at Cleveland United Methodist Church, 28038 Cleveland Ave., Punta Gorda Funeral Services will follow the visitation at 11:00AM at the church with Rev. Thomas Moore officiating. Entombment will following at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Port Charlotte. In lieu of flowers, the family would be honored to have Betty s life acknowledged by donations to The Angel Care Program, Osceola Regional Medical Center, 700 W. Oak St., Kissimmee, Fl. 34741.
