Bessie Lee Rankin Dazey, age 77, Ellijay, Ga., and formerly of Arcadia, Fl. passed away in Ft. Oglethorpe, Ga. August 31, 2009. Bessie was born in Augusta Co., Staunton, Va., Feb. 14, 1932 to Walter and Bertie Rankin. Bessie moved to Arcadia with her family 56 years ago from Virginia. She had been living in Ellijay, Ga. for the past four years with her son and daughter-in-law Terry and Amy Dazey. Bessie retired as a faithful school bus driver and teacher s aid for 18 years for the DeSoto Co. School Board. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Bessie is survived by three sons, Gary Dazey, Nocatee, FL., Roger (Kim) Dazey, Nocatee, FL, and Terry (Amy) Dazey, Ellijay, GA. , five grandchildren, three sisters, Dorothy Hill, Maude Collins, both of Arcadia, and Francis Seekford, Venice, Fl. Bessie is preceded in death by a son Donald Dazey, two brothers Glen Rankin and Walter Buddy Rankin, Jr. and a sister Margaret Burleson Visitation will be conducted from 6:00PM until 8:00PM September 4, 2009 at Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home Chapel, 50 No. Hillsborough Ave., Arcadia, Fl. Funeral services will be held at 10:00AM, September 5, 2009 from the Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rick Hill officiating. burial will follow in Joshua Creek Cemetery.
