Obituary

Beryl Hamilton Griffis Jr., age 89, passed away July 25, 2024 in Arcadia, Florida.  He was born in Wauchula, Florida to Beryl H. Griffis Sr. and Clyde Willis on February 7, 1935.  He graduated from Hardee County High School, Class of 1954, and joined the U.S. Army Reserve.  He moved to Arcadia in 1953 to establish and help operate the family business, South Side Shell.   Beryl was a member of Trinity Methodist Church in Arcadia.  He enjoyed football and was an avid Florida Gator fan.  He  enjoyed watching movies especially old westerns and had an extensive collection.  The Three Stooges were also a favorite of his.  Beryl enjoyed reading and spending quality time with family and friends.

He is survived by his son Jeffery R. Griffis from Arcadia, Florida, stepdaughter Karan Cowden (Robert Cave)  of Parrish, Florida, two grandchildren Crystal Ruiz (Chano), and Andrea Carson (David), three great grandchildren Maxson Ruiz, Ava and Chance Carson.

Beryl is preceded in death by his parents Beryl H. Griffis Sr., and Clyde Willis, his sister Joyce E. Selby and his beloved companion of more than forty-five years Nancy P. Webster.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday August 10, 2024, at 10 am at Trinity Methodist Church with Pastor Louie Mabrey officiating.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to one of the following; Desoto Memorial Hospital, Tidewell Hospice, or Trinity Arcadia Methodist Church.
