Barbara Elaine Rice, age 73, passed away February 26, 2010. Barbara was born October 17, 1936 in Jamestown, New York and moved to Arcadia in 1973 from Silver Springs, MD. Barbara retired as Night Clerk for the Best Western Motel, in Arcadia. She and her late husband owned and operated Tri-Palm Automotive, Arcadia until her husband's passing July 11, 1989. Barbara was a member of Pine level United Methodist Church, Pine Level, FL. She was a member of the Women of the Moose, Lodge # 1597. Barbara enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family. Barbara is survived by seven children; Diana Lynch, Barbara "Barbie" DuBose, Trudy (Byron) Williams, and Valerie Bonett all of Arcadia, FL. three sons; John (Ann) Robbins, Jr. and Floyd O. (Ginger) Rice, Jr., both of Arcadia and Donald (Marie) Robbins, St. Petersburg, FL. one sister Patricia Bradley, Bradenton, Fl., a brother-in-law; Larry Skaggs, Arcadia, Fl. twenty-two grandchildren; Johnny, Jason, Angela, Nikki, Travis, Daniel, Donnie, Jill, Jimmy, Justin, Mandy, Becki, Heather, Cissy, Paul, Cody, Jenna, Thomas, Floyd III., Savannah, Bailee and Christopher, and twenty three great grandchildren; Ella, Derrick, John, Jason, Hayliegh, Jayden, Denton, Ebony, Jessica, Amanda, Jeremy, Jimmy, Jace, Brooke, Chloe, Taylor, Logan, Nicholas, Jasmyn, Waylon, Landon, Chase, Ashlynn. Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved husband Floyd Otha Rice Sr., her parents Harry C. and Ruth L. Maddox, a sister Nancy Sexton, two grandchildren Michael and Chanelle Robbins, and a great-grand child James DuBose, III. Visitation will be conducted from 6:00PM until 8:00PM Wednesday, March 3, 2010 with the Women of the Moose, Lodge 1597 performing the College of Regions ceremony at 7:00PM at Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home, 50 N. Hillsborough Avenue, Arcadia, FL. Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM, Thursday, March 4, 2010 at Pine Level United Methodist Church, Pine Level, FL. with Rev. Odell Miley officiating.
