Barbara Bates, 77, of Arcadia, Florida passed away on April 17, 2026. Born on July 26, 1948, to the late George Smith and Norma Good in Wheeling, West Virginia however, she grew up in Solon, Ohio. She cherished time spent with her daughter, grandchildren, and family, and had a true appreciation for life; finding special joy in simple pleasures, such as concerts, gardening, she loved music and loved watching the stars.

Ms. Barbara survived by her daughter: Sheri L. Bates; Grandchildren: Madalyn and Joseph; Nieces and Nephews: Alonda (Allen), Jennifer, Shannon, Michael, Lacey, Heather, Tom, Renee, Cameron, and Amy; Great nieces and nephews: Nechelle, James, Thomas, Patrick, Kain, and Chelsea, Abbie, Brandon, Aaron, and Dawn, and many great-great nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends.

She is preceded by her great-niece: Sabrina Bowen and sister: Joyce Williamson.

A Visitation will be held at The Chapel of Ponger Kays Grady Funeral Home on Thursday, April 23, 2026, from 4:00pm – 6:00pm.
