Obituary

Ava Lena Massengale age 86, passed away on September 10, 2022. Ava was born on September 8, 1936.  She attended school in Augusta, Georgia and graduated in 1953.

She worked as a bookkeeper for many years as well as working at DeSoto Memorial in the Emergency Room Registration area. She also worked as the Mount Ephraim Baptist Church Treasurer for about 10 years. She was a member of the local Eastern Star chapter and was very well travelled. Ava had travelled to Alaska, Israel, and many places throughout the United States.

She enjoyed flowers and loved crossword puzzles and especially Sudoku!

She is survived by her husband Lee Massengale, her son Michael Moore of Pompano Beach, Florida and daughters Jacquelyn (Robert) Davies of Arcadia, Florida and Linda Moore daughter-in-law (John Flint) of Hickory, North Carolina.  She had five grandchildren, including Jessica and John and six great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, George W. Pridemore and Triphena Helton.

There will be a viewing on Thursday, September 15, from 5:00pm – 7:00pm in the Chapel of Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Homes, Arcadia.  The service will be on Friday, September 16 at 10:00am at Mount Ephraim Baptist Church with Pastor Dana Spurgeon officiating. The burial is to follow at Owens Cemetery.
