Audra Brown Whidden, age 90, passed away Sunday, October 11, 2009 surrounded by her loving family. She was born February 27, 1919 near Dothan, AL to Daniel Alexander and Mary Alice Brown the seventh of nine children. The family moved from Dothan to Nocatee, Fl when Audra was six years old. Later Audra would meet James McSwain Whidden, marry and move to Bradenton, Fl., where she would live for the rest of her life. Her hobbies were sewing and embroidering. She enjoyed sewing for herself and her girls. Audra was of the Baptist Faith. She was survived with two daughters, Phyllis (Earl) Monroe of Bartow, FL., and Maxine (William R.) Smith, one step daughter Dolores Hendricks of Port Charlotte, FL, one brother Quitmon Brown of Arcadia, FL. two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Audra was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers and five sisters. Visitation will be held Sunday, October 18, 2009 from 1:30 PM to 2:30PM at the chapel of Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home, 50 N. Hillsborough Ave., Arcadia. Funeral Services will follow the visitation at 2:30PM at the chapel with her grandson Rev. Matt Monroe officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Arcadia.
