Obituary

Arthur Lavern Murphy, of Bowling Green, FL passed away on November 1, 2026. He was born on December 1, 1945, in Earle, Arkansas to Wesley Murphy and Opal Richie. He had lived in the community for 60 years and was a retired Truck Driver in the Transportation field.

He is defined by decades of quiet dedication, proving day after day that true selflessness is measured by the depth of his commitment to the people he loved.

He enjoyed music, driving, bringing people together, and making friends everywhere he went, and drinking coffee.

He was the rock of his family, steady and reliable and deeply proud of the ones he loved. He was also a master storyteller, whose tales we will retell for generations. He will also be remembered as a free spirit who marched to the beat of his own drum.

He is preceded in death by his parents Wesley and Opal Murphy and his oldest son.

He is survived by his loving wife Sarah Jane Murphy, his children Tabitha (Jose) Hernandez of Bowling Green, FL, Telena Murphy of Bowling Green, FL, Wesley Murphy of Little Rock, AR and Ervin (Sheli) Murphy of Little Rock, AR. Also, his brothers and sisters, Lowell Murphy of California, Charley Murphy of Ft. Meade, FL. Loyd Murphy of Lakeland, FL, Sharon King of Michigan City, IN and Alfred Pugh of Columbus, MS. There are 36 grandchildren and 68 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild, as well as 30 nieces and nephews.
