Anthony Thomas Messina, age 92 passed away Friday morning, September 8, 2023, in Arcadia, Florida. He was born January 6, 1931, in Brooklyn, New York. He was a native of New York for 43 years and has lived in Arcadia for 25 years. Graduated from Brooklyn High School.

He was a mechanic and owned Tony's  A& O gas station for over 20 years. Anthony also owned and grew orange groves for over 20 years. Served as Arcadia Fire Chief during the late 70's and for over 25 years served as a volunteer firefighter and Captain in Baldwin New York.

Tony enjoyed body building, motorcycles, boating as a young man. His family was always his first
interest and caring for his animals and horses. His family will remember him as a hard worker, quick with family stories doting on and spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his children Anthony Messina and his wife Melinda, Tom Messina, Mike Messina, and Vincent Messina. Anthony had six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and six nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews. Additionally his brother Edward Messina in New York.

Anthony is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Josephine Messina, and all his uncles and aunts.

Visitation will be Friday night, September 15, 2023, from 6-8pm at Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home Chapel, 50 N. Hillsborough Ave., Arcadia, Florida.

Services will be Saturday, September 16, 2023, at Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home Chapel, 50 N. Hillsborough Ave., Arcadia, Florida at 1:30pm with Pastor Ellis Cross officiating. A burial will follow at Joshua Creek Cemetery, Arcadia, Florida.
