Alfred Q. Brooks, age 76, passed away January 13, 2011 in Punta Gorda, FL. A Alfred was born October 13, 1934 in Bowling Green, FL. Alfred retired as a letter carrier for the U. S. Post Office, Miami, FL. He moved to Arcadia 10 years ago, buying a small ranch where he raised cattle.. He loved working his cattle ranch caring for his animals. He enjoyed fishing and anything outdoors. He was a licensed pilot, owning his own plane in his younger years. He thoroughly enjoyed flying. Alfred was a veteran of the U. S. Air force. He was a member of the Nocatee First Baptist Church, Nocatee, FL. Survivors are; his beloved wife of 56 years, Mattie M. Brooks, Arcadia, a son Ronald (Terri) Brooks, Arcadia, Fl. three sisters; Inez (William) Pratt, Betty Ruth (Herley) Fitzgerald, of Clermont, FL and Minnie Mae (Wayne) Willis, Homestead, FL, and two grandchildren; T. J. and Brandon Brooks of Arcadia, FL. Alfred is preceded in death by ha brother Ernest Brooks. Visitation will be conducted from 10:00AM until 12:00Noon Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at Nocatee First Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 12:00Noon at Nocatee First Baptist Church with Rev. Eric Romick officiating. Burial will follow in Paynes Creek Cemetery, Bowling Green, FL.
