Kaia Patrice Cross, 31, of Arcadia, Florida, passed away July 3, 2013. Kaia was born in St. Louis Park, Minnesota on March 4, 1982 and moved to Arcadia in 2002. She married her long time boyfriend, Aaron Cross in 2011 and together they were raising their 3 year old daughter, Shania. Kaia was a professional photographer and was voted Desoto County's Best Photographer for 2012 and 2013. She was once the Event Coordinator for Fantasy of Flight Aeronautical Museum in Polk County and most recently a press reporter for the Desoto Sun newspaper. Kaia's beauty and talent earned her the title of "Miss Southern States," a competition across Florida, Georgia, Alabama, North and South Carolinas. She currently holds the title of "Mrs. Arcadia." She also enjoyed horseback riding. Nothing compared to her love for her family, life and faith. She attended North Hillsborough Baptist Church. Kaia's contagious smile and caring ways will be forever and deeply missed.
Kaia is survived by her husband, Aaron Cross, of Arcadia, daughter, Shania Cross,parents; Pamela and William "Bill" Slipka, brothers; David Johnson, Jr., Matthew Johnson and Lucas Johnson, of Minnesota, sister, Annie (Eric) Dahliheimer, of Minnesota, best friend, Barbara Hooten, of Minnesota, uncle, Wayne Edward Johnson, of Arcadia, FL, grandmother, Patricia Kathleen Johnson, of Arcadia, father and mother in law, Ellis and Denise Cross, and Aaron's grandparents, Arthur and Mildred Dyal.
The funeral service will be held July 09, 2013 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Ponger Kays Grady Funeral Home, 50 N. Hillsborough, Arcadia, Florida.
